Meaning Over Time

This is a picture of my grandma holding my oldest brother, Luke.  She died when my mother was pregnant with me, so this picture serves as my memory of her.

The meaning of this picture has changed over time.  Once a casual snapshot, it is now a totem, tying me to a grandmother I never knew.

I take snapshots without thinking of what those pictures might mean to my kids.  Will any of them serve to connect the past with the present?  Will my future grandchildren look at them to get to know their parents or me better?
