Laura announced that she no longer wanted to be a lemonade stander or a doctor when she grows up. Rather, her future career goal is to be a rock star. She dressed up in a tiara, necklaces, bracelets, watermelon sunglasses, and attitude to practice on her Pororo guitar. She tells me that she is going to sing AND play an instrument.
Two summers ago, Laura wore the same watermelon sunglasses as she learned to blow bubbles. When I look back through her pictures, I see how her personality has formed and expanded. The two year old Laura was just as determined as the four year old Laura now is.
When Laura was two, I couldn’t imagine Laura at four. I was transfixed by how much she had grown since her birth and on the new things she was learning every day. Today, I still don’t think I can project what Laura will be like at six or eight or twenty. I see her as my Laura and want to hold on to this moment.
