Daffodil Spikes in the Snow

The two inches of snow that arrived overnight were a reminder that winter is not quite over. Yet, spring is near. The daffodils are emerging, their leaf spikes pushing through the snow.

The daffodil bulbs were a gift from my mom last fall. Laura and I planted them. She has been waiting for her “tulips” to appear all winter.

I bet Laura is so excited! Spring is emerging a bit early this year, I think. The pansies on Temple Square are happily blooming; daytime temps here in SLC are in the mid 40s.

  2. How FUN! Our winters are wildly different. It got up to 80 this week. And then back down to the 60s today. We have dandelions popping up, but it’s not the same as daffodils. Because I pull the infernal weeds out and all.

The daffodils are up and fully in bloom outside my office building! I can’t believe it. This is way too early.

Ah, I love the early signs of spring.
